I’m Samual Phillips I was born in a small town in Vermont. My mother was an artist and inspired me very young regarding art. Growing up I found myself obsessed with visual art mediums whether that was the cover of an old book or a fashion show on tv. As far as artists that have influenced my work I would say Edward Hopper, Francis Bacon, and Terry Urban. I began talking art seriously in the past few years with charcoal illustrations aimed to find my aesthetic as well as build a foundation of skill to further express myself ideas. I am now advancing in mixed media works playing with paint and sources I find in a collage like manner. As far as messaging goes. I have been playing with the idea of memories and day dreams. I find most of my ideas and creativity when I have one foot in the subconscious. I want the audience to feel that.
